This position is at the L08 level with an hourly pay range of $41.30 to $52.25

Reporting to the Manager, First Nation Health Programs, the incumbent is responsible for coordinating the Traditional Medicine Program, Traditional Diet Program, and other First Nations culture-based programming offered by YHC. This includes informing patients and families of availability of the traditional foods and medicines, traditional healing options, interpretation and Elder services. The incumbent contacts the helpers/healers of patients’ choice and facilitates traditional healing through foods and medicines. The incumbent will also be responsible for the care and use of the Healing Room and any First Nations ceremonies requested. The incumbent participates in patient care, referrals, planning, counseling and support to First Nation patients and their families as required. The incumbent contributes to the cultural component of the education provided to health care providers and other hospital staff.

Excellent knowledge and practice of Traditional Methods of Healing including use of traditional medicines.
Excellent knowledge of culture, traditions, social history, and economic conditions of Yukon First Nations.
Good knowledge of trends and developments in social service field and considerations for First Nations.
Knowledge of Yukon Social Service and Healthcare systems.
Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
Excellent interpersonal skills with First Nations Elders and Traditional Helpers.
Initiative to self-direct and manage program delivery.
Ability to plan, implement, and co-ordinate meetings, gatherings, and conferences.
Strong counseling skills.

The successful candidate is required to have an Extensive experience with Yukon First Nations people and traditional healing methods (5-7 years directly related experience) and graduation from an acceptable social service or health care program (2 years). An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be considered. Fluency in one or more Yukon First Nations languages.
