Essential Functions
This .25 FTE position focuses on Native American cultural programming and student advocacy at UNO Native American Studies ( NAS ) through community and campus engagement. Responsibilities include planning Native American cultural programming (both on the UNO campus and in the community), building and strengthening relationships by representing UNO NAS in the urban Native community, establishing and maintaining a social media presence for the Native Lifeways Project to publicize activities and goals of the project, working directly with students at UNO to provide cultural programming for retention, collaborating with the Cultural Outreach Specialist on recruiting students to UNO .

Additional Duties
Plan and execute Native American cultural programming (on campus and in the community) Networking with Cultural Programming Providers (build database of contacts) Scheduling venues, catering, room set up, honoraria, materials, gifts Gathering feedback (formal and informal) for effectiveness of cultural programming for the goals of recruitment and retention Develop and maintain social media platforms related to cultural programming and activities (consistent with project goals) Establish a social media presence (e.g., active Facebook site) Use social media to publicize upcoming cultural programming and reinforce project goals Represent the project and UNO NAS by posting frequently and responding to questions and discussions that may emerge in a timely fashion Support and collaborate with Cultural Outreach Specialist on recruiting and retention activities Regularly communicate with Cultural Outreach Specialist to identify priorities and opportunities to advance recruitment and retention goals Coordinate cultural programming with the Cultural Outreach Specialist to maximize recruitment/retention goals Accompany Cultural Outreach Specialist on campus and in the field to represent UNO NAS , as requested Engage in direct recruitment and retention activities Work directly with existing UNO students and solicit feedback about cultural programming and campus climate.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree (any discipline), Minimum of five years working with Native youth and facilitating cultural programming

Preferred Qualifications
Minor in Native American Studies
