Ko tōu ake mahi - What you’ll do

Seeking an Advisor to join the Māori Health Insights and Monitoring team.

In this role, you’ll use your analytical skills to generate meaningful insights that support high-quality advice and improve health outcomes for Māori.

You’ll work across the Ministry and the wider health and disability sector to contribute to Pae Ora – healthy futures for Māori – in a collaborative, purpose-driven environment.

  • Apply both quantitative and qualitative approaches to collect, analyse, and share insights that support Māori health policy and monitoring efforts,
  • Foster strong, collaborative relationships across the Ministry and with external partners to promote equity and uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi commitments,
  • Use statistical tools, modelling techniques, and data visualisation to interpret health datasets and guide evidence-based decisions,
  • Create clear and engaging reports, briefings, and presentations tailored to both technical and general audiences,
  • Contribute to cross-agency initiatives, champion data sovereignty, and stay informed on emerging developments in Māori health data.

Ko ngā pūkenga ōu - What you’ll bring

  • A tertiary qualification in a discipline with a strong focus on data and analytics or equivalent experience,
  • Sound data analysis skills and a good attention to detail,
  • An ability or experience working with real world, large data sets, and information,
  • Experience working with analytical tool sets for data manipulation, modelling and data visualisation,
  • Prior work or projects in the Māori Data space would be advantageous.
