Bush Heritage Australia are seeking an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships Manager - SA to join the West & SA team.

  • Location - Adelaide or within the South Australian Arid Rangelands (Port Augusta, Coober Pedy)
  • 1.0 FTE is $89, 959 - $109, 950, plus 12% super
  • Part time - 0.6 FTE, ongoing

Bush Heritage Australia is a leading conservation organisation, and for over 30 years we’ve supported and protected some of the most fragile ecosystems across the continent and seen the impact of our science-based approach. By 2030 Bush Heritage Australia aims to protect and enhance biodiversity across 30 million hectares of land, including 2.4 million hectares of directly owned and managed land, while extending and deepening Aboriginal partnerships. We also work alongside farmers and private landholders to improve biodiversity on agricultural lands.

About the role

This position will provide leadership and management support to regional staff to strengthen and deepen our working relationships with Traditional Custodians on Country, across Bush Heritage Reserves and the South Australian Arid Rangelands Priority Landscape.  

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships Manager will also contribute to Bush Heritage Australia’s Aboriginal Cultural Capability in the areas of policy, strategy, and operational procedures.   

This role will work closely with Bush Heritage’s Head of Region – WA & SA and SA team to identify opportunities to strengthen and grow Bush Heritage’s partnership support to Traditional Custodians in South Australia.

The role will work between Monday and Friday, with flexibility around days. Regular travel will be required.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Demonstrated passion and experience in Caring for Country, in nature conservation and a commitment to the objectives and values of Bush Heritage.  
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to effectively engage, to work with and develop genuine, respectful relationships with Aboriginal people and other stakeholders.  
  • Demonstrated experience working in remote communities and regional locations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal peoples in contemporary Australian society in realizing their commitments to Caring for Country.   
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating between government, business, and other NGO’s that benefit Traditional Custodians.   
  • High level of computer literacy and proficiency with personal computers including word processing, spreadsheet and data software.  
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both a written and oral form.  
  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects and budgets.  
  • A current driver’s license
