We are seeking an experienced and motivated Team Lead – Aboriginal Community Engagement to lead a high-performing team delivering engagement outcomes that make a real difference.

About the role

In this leadership role, you will provide strategic direction, operational oversight, and expert advice to support infrastructure delivery, operations and maintenance across the State.

You will lead a team of professionals to deliver culturally responsive engagement, strengthen relationships with Aboriginal communities and stakeholders, and ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery across a dynamic and complex program environment.

What you'll be doing

• Lead, mentor and develop a team to deliver high-quality Aboriginal community engagement outcomes
• Drive customer-focused, culturally informed engagement strategies across projects and operations
• Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with Aboriginal communities and key stakeholders
• Provide strategic advice and escalation support on complex or sensitive engagement issues
• Support project and operational teams to deliver consistent, high-quality customer service outcomes
• Ensure communication and engagement practices align with organisational standards and expectations
• Identify opportunities to improve service delivery, systems and ways of working
• Champion innovation, continuous improvement and best practice

What we're looking for

• Demonstrated people and team leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring and performance management
• Ability to pivot quickly, manage competing priorities and maintain high levels of customer service
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
• Experience managing complex issues and conflict constructively
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work across teams
• Proactive, can-do attitude with innovative thinking
• Commitment to continuous improvement and quality outcomes
• Excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills

Key requirements

• Significant experience in Aboriginal community engagement and stakeholder management
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a complex environment
• Strong understanding of Aboriginal cultural protocols and community contexts
• Ability to travel to regional and remote locations
• Current WA driver’s licence
• Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification under Section 50(d)
